Burning Question 2:
How do I get rid of the butterflies?
Scroll down for some ways to make that happen.
Be prepared- Know your material
- Know the facility where you will present
- Test, test and test again, your A/V or computer generated items
- Know your audience; and, prepare and present SPECIFICALLY for them
- Breath - deeply and deliberately
- Deep breathing controls your nerves, enhances your voice and helps you think better.
- Move - according to your plan
- Whether you plan it or not, your body will move. It will sway, jitter or become staccato if you do not plan for and follow natural movements.
So, here are a couple of ways to fit your movement into your speech.
-
Look and move in a different direction when you move to a new point in your presentation.
- Walk to the side of the podium or the side of the stage to emphasize a point.
Your body and your nerves will have something real to do; and, so, will not express themselves as knocking knees.
